About
I am Rashid Hajivand Dastgerdi, a PhD researcher in Geomechanics at AGH University of Krakow, Poland. My PhD research focuses on numerical and experimental rock mechanics. I received my Master’s degree in Tunnel and Underground Space Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic in 2020, where my research focused on the stability analysis of underground metro stations under earthquake loading using finite element method. Over the past ten years, I have used numerical methods such as FEM, XFEM, DEM, SPH, and peridynamics to model and simulate rock and concrete fracture and damage, granular material flow, underground excavation stability, large and extremely large ground deformation, and soil/rock-structure interaction. I have experience with both open-source tools, such as LAMMPS and LIGGGHTS, and commercial software, including ABAQUS, Ansys LS-DYNA, PLAXIS, FLAC, and PFC, for various geomechanical and geotechnical simulations.
